Stuffed animal

When katie was four she was given a stufed animal.  It was a bunny.she named him eddy . eddy the rabit. Edie was her best friend. She took him everywhere. 

Katie’s family kept a low profile. Most of there social life if you wanted to call it that centered on there church.  Except for church activities a lot of time was spent at home or doing family activities.  

Katie incisted on taking edie everywhere.  Any pictures of katie as a young child included the stufed bunny  If there was a picture without the bunny ,it was because her parents or grandparents insisted that the animal not be in the picture. Otherwise he was there. 

Katie kept to herself.  She was not withdrawn but not overly outgoung.she started to go more and more inward. Edie started to take up bigger parts of her life.he seamed to take on a life of his own.she talked about him and she liked to have him talk.

At first her parents indulged her.  Then they became a bit concern by her obseson with the toy rabit. They would not let her take edie out of  the house. 

Then they hid the rabit.she was really sad. Eventualy she moved on.she forgot about the stuffed animal.  She moved on. Her perents put him in a box. 

One summer in between her freshman and sophmore years at colege ,her parents found the box. They chuckled when they saw edie the rabit.

“Hunnie look what we found?”her mom said. Katie had no idea what it was. She came to her mom. She lit right up. “Edie! ” she said. She hugged him. Her whole childhood flooded back. She had totally forgotten about him. Sudenly she felt like she was six again. It al came back. 

She was so glad to see her old friend.her mom was a bit taken aback. By her reaction. After all these years edie was still her prized poseson. 

Her mom did not seam too impresed. She decided that she would tone it down. She put him in her room.

She was carefull not to mention the animal to her parrents. She slept with him that night. She brought him with her to colege. She hid him knowing that her parents probably would not aprove. For whatever reason her love of edie got on her parrents nurves.

She had no idea why her love for the stuffef animal waa so repugnent. Perhaps they thought she was acting imature. It seemed a bit over the top. She decided to keep it low key. 

Once again he was a good friend. She made sure her parents did not know that she brought him with her to colege.  They had forgotten about him again. Over the sumer she worked at a sumer camp. She brought edie with her. She hid him in one of her bags. 

Edie was a constent companion. She took him everywhere.on her honeymoon at first she decided that she should not bring edie. She waa now totaly an adult. It was time to put away childish things.she almost kept him at her parents house. Shw decided to take him with her on her honeymoon. 

 “What is this dear?” her new huabend ben asked. “Oh thats eddie!”she answered.  “You have a stufed animal?” he asked. “Its not that weird.”she remarked. “No i guess its not. ” he said in response.

She was a lirtle embarrassed.  He did not really think that much about it. Edie took up a prominent place in there bed room when they got home. He sugested moving it. She was not keen on that. 

He toletated the animal. When they had a daughter. He wanted to give it to the baby. She would not have that. She feared for edie’s safty. 

Brad felt like he had to compete with Edie. He wanted to let thete daughtet have edie. She said no. After the birth of there son, brad decided to talk to her.

“We have been maried for three years now. I have had to compete with edie. Forshaking all other that includes inanimate object. “He said. “Are you jellous of the rabit?”she asked.  “Look its either me or Edie. “He said. 

He wanted her to donate him to goodwill. She convinced him to let her put him up in the living room.Edie was banned from there room. 

Brad never understood her love for the rabit. No one did but they worked out a conpromise. She wanred to get a stufed rabit for there daughter zoey but brad decided not to. Despite therw dusagrement katie and brad were in love.  They were happy together.
